I hate Adobe so much right now and it is Illustration Friday time again

By The Illustrator

This week’s word on Illustration Friday is “shaky” andshakey I had drawn a nice space elevator and written a great post about space elevators in response. I know space elevators sounds crazy as a response to the word “shaky” but my post explained it and it made sense – I swear.

I used Windows Live Writer to write the post – by the way I hate Microsoft too – and the post was saved as a draft. I was very careful to save my work at several stages of the writing process. Then Adobe updater switched on in the background and my whole system slowed down to a crawl and then crashed – this is the sort of annoying Adobe behavior that I just hate. I had to switch off my computer and then reboot.

So I rebooted only to discover that Windows Live Writer hadn’t saved a draft after all, it turns out it was only joking – perhaps it saved one in a temp file, but I can’t find it – so my draft is just gone. And all because of Adobe updater. I could kill them.

Instead of a link-filled, SEO-optimized and crafted post of between 250 and 500 words that took about an hour to write I’m having to post this incoherent rant instead. It’s only just over 100 words long. How on Earth will Google know what ads to serve up for your clicking pleasure.

Aaargh.

That’s annoying.

Anyway until next time…

Microsoft and Adobe are the two worst companies I have ever had to deal with on a daily basis. They create nothing logical for the user. Their ability to design reasonable, logical interface (GUI) design is the pits!

Fortunately, most everything can now be done on a Mac, but then there is the Adobe ‘problem’. I will do about anything to avoid using any software created by Adobe. Some of the highly capable graphics software I use on my Mac is so old, I cannot update my Mac OS past 10.4.11 for fear of losing the ability to use the old software over Illustrator CS4.
